TGU Economics Conference 2025
The Department of Economics at the Turkish-German University successfully organized the TGU Economics Conference 2025 on 22–23 September in Istanbul, generously funded by the DAAD.
The conference brought together world-renowned academics, policymakers, and researchers from across the globe, creating a dynamic platform for international academic exchange on key issues in economics and public policy.
The event opened with an inspiring address by Prof. Achim Wambach, President of ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research and Professor at the University of Mannheim, who shared critical insights on current European and global economic policy challenges. His keynote was followed by a thought-provoking discussion with Bige Yücel, President of AHK Türkiye and Board Member of Siemens Türkiye, exploring the future of economic collaboration between Türkiye and the EU.
On the second day, Prof. Sule Alan from Cornell University presented her pioneering research in education and behavioural economics, highlighting innovative approaches to improving educational outcomes and social policy design.
In addition to the keynote sessions, the conference featured invited panels and presentations by leading scholars from national and international research institutions, covering a wide range of topics in contemporary economics.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions, which greatly enriched the discussions, and to the DAAD for its generous support in making this event possible.
